"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." – Albert Einstein

My Platform:

As a working class candidate, I know the daily struggles that our district is facing!  We need accessible housing, improved education, addiction and mental health support and reasonable cost of living.  Our smaller communities rely heavily on small businesses, including small family farms, and they need our support more than ever in Salem to protect our rural values and needs.

Quality of Life

An Effective Independent Leader

Advocating for our Business and Agricultural Communities

As a small business owner and parent, I am deeply focused on creating a more equitable future for my family and for yours. My platform is built upon investing in the people of Oregon and improving our quality of life.  This is why I support:

  • Infrastructure: Our small, rural communities are too often overlooked, which is why I will advocate for vital infrastructure funding for Yamhill and Polk Counties, where many towns are overwhelmed with traffic and other issues as we’ve grown.

  • Housing:  We need housing for the working class, our veterans, disabled and elderly that is safe and affordable.  Stable housing is the backbone of a thriving society.  Stable housing allows veterans, disabled and elderly to obtain access to the programs and services they need.  Stable housing increases success for those in recovery and for victims of domestic violence.  Stable housing allows people to get jobs and keep them.  Stable housing reduces violence and crime in our community, which is a benefit to everyone.  Stable housing helps children and families through difficult times and leads to increased long term success.

  • Education: Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. We owe a safe and stable childhood to all children; well-funded schools provide the opportunities kids need to thrive and develop as they grow.  More importantly, all children deserve an education and deserve the level of support appropriate to their needs.  We need fully supported schools so that children with additional needs are able to get the care they need while also providing quality education for all other students.

  • Healthcare:  We need increased access to care, lower prescriptions prices and lower healthcare costs.  Currently insurance companies make billions in profit from our sickness.  I have stood my ground with insurance companies for years and I’m ready to take this fight to Salem.  No one should have to choose between the care they need and being able to pay rent or buy food.   We pay more in healthcare costs than any other developed country and yet get much less for what we pay.   Providers and patients alike are exhausted by a very broken system in which insurance companies have control over our care, instead of the patients and providers.  Healthcare access affects every single person in this country and is negatively impacting our individual lives, our communities as a whole, small business and our general economy.

  • Addiction: Our community remains in dire need of a sobering center and adequate, affordable treatment facilities. I will work with city and county leaders to bring these resources to our community.

  • Environment: Sustainability is the key to the future for our businesses and families.  We NEED clean water and air.  We have so many creative problem solvers in this state and country that can combine our environmental needs with reducing costs and improving outcomes for today and for generations to come.  Improving business functions not only improves environmental stability, it also improves economic sustainability.  It is time to bring the business community, scientists/environmentalists and farmers together for the benefit of us all.

  • Technology: technology is here to stay so the question becomes how can we best utilize it to support our businesses and families while also addressing the new dangers it can present.

  • Crime/Social Justice: The best way to address crime is to invest in our people with housing, healthcare and readily available access to mental health and recovery centers.  People with hope and a home are much less likely to commit crimes.  In fact violence of all types dramatically decreases when people and families are supported.
